- What is the largest insect?
Well apparently its a six inch beetle. But I always imagined like butterflies or centipedes or a huge killer moth like Godzilla Moth man would be the biggest. And why you ask don't insects become that large...well it's simply because their exoskeletons are not built to handle large amounts of oxygen and thus could not produce gas and some other stuff...it's all on that link
- What is the origin of the word "technology"?
Some people believed that it copmes from the ancient Greek word "techne" meaning art or craft. But according to same lame guy, Heidegger, that sounds way too angry, it apparently has "NOTHING TO DO WITH SUCH CLIAMS!" this guy must look like Gargemel (Sp?). He says it encompasses knowing and not doing so I kind of like that. "In this way, technology can become the means to understand and divulge the essence."
- How do callouses form?
It's nature's way of protecting us from having an ulcer or a complete breakdown of the skin. Water starts to collect and then it dries and adds denisty to the skin and thus protecting us. Exciting...I still have baseball player hands.
- How is IQ measured?
(Mental Age/Chronological Age ) * 100 = IQ. Right so what does that mean. If you were 10 years old and earned Mental Age scores on IQ tests equal to those of 16-year-olds, your IQ would be 16/10 X100, or 160. That sounds really stupid so I did some more diggin and found there to be all kinds of crazy tests out there. Stanford Binnet, Wechler, CCTM, CCFT...blah blah...and apparently you stop growing your brain at 16...that sounds kind of weird but I guess all the base ops are there...I have taken a bunch of IQ test and got a whole wild bunch of ranges so I have no idea how accurate they are...the only one I paid for though I got a 140 which means, I'm lord of the universe...that makes no sense...because well...I'm not that smart...creative (with a twist of business minus the art) is a better term for me!
- What constitutes a different race?
According to some lame ass marriage tax break web site it's,"the observable differences such as skin color, hair texture, and the shape of one's eyes or nose". Well that makes sense but there has to be more scientific semblence (sp?) then that...and there is some woman blathering about races being in different worlds chained by monkeys striving to enter the realm of the sloth...check it...if you are bored...soooo getting no where here! For the most part I agree with this guy in seeing that race is subjective and has no bearing anymore...he outlines some good points ...but basically we decide race by skin color or obvious ethnic features...race is used today in polling objectives
- What were Hitler's parents like?
Hitler's parents were poor, born in Austro-Bavarians frontier. "My father I respected, my mother I loved". Apparently they both died before he was 19. His father dug the sauce and Moms loved little Adie (I wondered what they called him as a baby). Another guy sites that all the history about Adolf's parents has been propogandasized and crazy through the years. Nobody really knows anything about them because they were roughly nobodies. He places his hypothesis on Hitler's own demeanor to describe his parents. A nice Freudian approach, "cream-buns and all kinds of 'soft' foods and drinks, not to mention sentimental attitude in matters of musical and artistic taste - all these factors would favour the hypothesis of a strong emotional identity with a young mother whose passionateness had turrned against the father." Blah blah blah...I don't really care about Hitler's parents but there was a crazy picture of some big German in brown clothes in one of the kids text books that made me think of Hitler and then of that scene in Angry Inch when the mother denounces Jesus and compares him to Hitler...that was great...anyway...
- When will the Earth die?
5 billion years, in accordance with the Sun's burnout...doesn't that make everything seem so fleeting...even if it is 5 billion years I mean everything we do now will be over...anyway I watched this commercial on AFN that said normal people think about the ocean, and space, and the non-stop universe and such...well I want to be normal just like everyone else...so there!
Thanks mono guy this is great!
