New Book
I'm really excited about my new book.
Yeah that's my dog Liam on the front!
The book is going to be a little bittersweet because you know you aren't in the moment anymore when there is a book out about what you love(d). That and when the title is "Britpop!: Cool Britannia and the Spactacular
Demise of English Rock". So I'm really looking forward to it.
The writer, whom I have been reading on the NME (the UK RollingStone) is one of my favorite writers next to Marcus, the other book that I was reading. Unfortunately, and I say unfortunately with the admiration of an underling, Marcus uses such amazing 50 cent words and goes through Joyce-like crescendo's and scattery that he's hard to follow. But no one makes more of a social parallel out of punk music than Marcus. But, when it comes to reading about funny, goofball, britpop, too much cocain and Carling, overly anthemic, and downright poppy music, then
John Harris is my boy.
As a side note these are some of my favorite Noel/Liam Gallagher quotes:
"All I ever wanted to do was make a record. Here's what you do: you pick up your guitar, you rip a few people's tunes off, you swap them round a bit, get your brother in the band, punch his head in every now and again, and it sells. I'm a lucky bastard. I'm probably the single most lucky man in the world, apart from our Liam."
"I've got a bit of a headache, a bit of a lump gathering over my eye but if I have another 75 cigarettes and a couple of bottles of gin I'll be all right. I might go to sleep tonight."
Interviewer: I have with me one of the stars of oasis...
Noel: What do you mean one of the stars?
"Next year I hope to get a stalker or two because I don't belive you've arrived until you get a stalker."
"Americans are crazy. They have this fascination with throwing their shoes on stage. I've been to a lot shows in me life, some good and some bad. But I was never moved to take off me shoes and throw it at the lead singer."
