Coming Back Strong
The year was 1997. And everyone was doing their best Cartman impersonation on a daily basis. Comedy Central was being birthed in stardom and nobody knew what to make of 4 crude mouthed little cartoon kids from some place called South Park.
The year is 2006 and the show is much better now than it ever was then. South Park has elevated itself, maybe via the boredom of Stone and Parker (their creators) to a level of social awareness that grabs my attention. Gone are the fart jokes, kids cursing, T+P moments, Jew jokes etc... Even though those still exist in a background light, the show has meaningfully started to capture and expose some of our country's bigger issues and bring them down to trailer trash level understanding (which, frankly, is exactly what we need).
I commend South Park on it's 10th year anniversary, whenever that is, and I'm glad that they keep putting out TV that is fucking hilarious and rather cutting against social issue at the same time.
I have a link below to their recently uncensored episode clip that was banned by the FCC/Comedy Central. It is the image of Muhammad, and while Muslims and others may find it offensive to push the limits of someone's religious beliefs by degradation of their God in cartoon form, I need to kindly remind them that here in America we don't live in a Church or a Mosque or a Temple. We live in a country made out of an idea, and that idea is fueled by inalienable rights such as free speech. However offended someone may become because of this image, the much larger offense is the banning of it from the eyes of the people protected by the doctrines this country claims it instills.
This is the 15 second cutout clip from South Park.
