August 22nd Poem for a Birthday Boy
Dance, Dance Christa Päffgen
When the ship's bow broke the second cook claimed "rough".
He's got this big wind turbine
Blowing him straight on the board and off the grid
"Play chess with him."
"You'll love that he knows how to know."
A Chelsea girl once turned 50
Some kindred German Warhol freak
Some tie.
Energy binds us in some way.
And you lived for a day with me.
"Your body is electricity. Can you believe that?"
"I can actually. "
A half-hearted attempt to reunite old comrades
A trying time for footwear
A blood giver
Once in a blue moon you can call together
generosity with honesty and get away with all of it.
Angels.
Astronauts.
Copy writers.
Time travelers.
Crosses and stars.
Hammers and stripes.
Crests and hearts.
Time and layers.
Eyes and minds.
Your heart.
Love.
I love you all.
I always have.
I always will.
We are all energy passing through.
We always have been.
Happy birthday to everyone who loves.
