Started moving stuff to the house - it's amazing how many boxes one book case is. Walking down the street yesterday and moving the boxes I think I fell in love with the house for the first time - well the first time - since I first saw it - but it was springtime. The trees were in bloom. There were kids on bikes, mother's with strollers and the walkway and the grass just sorta felt like home for the first time. Like this was my home. This was OUR home. And then walking in - it smelled like it was ours. The sun porch that goes out from the bedroom and all the light that gets let in from the porch on the first floor are really warm and wonderful. The kitchen looked like it was dying for it's first taste of Bret sauce day and the shelves looked like they wanted a record player and all my books and things that I love.
We still don't know where all the furniture is going to go (maybe a wrapping a room. And we are still pretty sure we'll be poor for a year or so - save for our vacation to Florida in May - and the Derby of course - but - it really is wonderful knowing that this is ours. That all the bullshit and awfulness I've been through in my life and all things I've squandered and sacrificed and lost have lead up to something real and something really amazing that I am proud of. For the first time in a long time my chin is up and my chest is out and I feel good about me.
Also - Erin's family has been exceedingly gracious and wonderful to me. They allow me in to their holiday's and their events without ever making me feel like an outsider. They are really a wonderful genuine group of people that I am proud to know.
My affiliate letter was picked up by the editorial of a small Boston newspaper and syndicated on over 30 websites. My editor came down this morning and thought that we should work on a book together - - lol - I barely got through 5 issues much less a full fledged book. But it's exciting to talk about - it's also exciting to think about starting your own business soon (which I want to do). It will likely be consulting but my profile in the industry is really starting to climb and it's an exciting time.
