Dearest Daughter,
Well the summer really gets away from you aye? Just to let you know... every morning on my way to work I think of what to write you... and then the day comes crashing in and unfortunately those thoughts get swept away in words like, name acquisition, promos, copy, websites, wordpress, and "You're Fired!"
Daddy, does the firing by the way. But - he doesn't like it...
So your summer has been pretty magical. And you seem to really love the water and people and just about everything. Your mother and I comment all the time that we couldn't ask for a better baby and if anything has ever won over my heart it's your smiling wonderful face.
You'll never know this... not until you are probably my age but you are loved in a way that can't be explained. You are loved in a way called "unconditionally" - that word was passed on to me by your grandfasther actually... whom - I'm sorry to say - you will probably not meet. But in his hayday he was quite the nice man... and he spoke about unconditional love all the time.
Well - I have to say that when it comes to you... that applies. You never feel real love, love that isn't based in passion or money or laughter or beauty until you have a child. Because the love you have for your child is a love that isn't like any other. It's a responsibility wrapped in a gift... it's as though someone handed you the most special thing you'll ever receive and you get to mold it in your image and hope to give it the best of your life in every way.
I'm going to write this down here because I don't want to forget about things I want to tell you about... not just always telling you how awesome you are:
- Your great grandfather - my grandfather Rufus Balban - he's getting up there in age and by the time you reach memory making ability he may be gone
- Your time at the beach this summer
- Your chicken hair
- Your love of everything all the time
So with that - I wish you a wonderful day!
Dad
