I hate you
There are a few words that when put together can really hurt someone - they are "I hate you."
Unfortunately, Mommy and Daddy say "I hate..." far too much. We're aware of the problem and are trying to fix it.
Over the years Daddy has been a very negative person. My own Father told me that that would be my downfall. Luckily, I understand that cynicism and derision can be destructive and not productive. What does that mean? Well... try to love more... try to be patient... try to be understanding... and realize that other people sometimes are just doing what they think is right and what is best. They aren't out to hurt you directly - it's just that sometimes they can't get out of their own way or they aren't wise enough to learn what the most compassionate and least abrasive way is.
With that said - cynics are funny. And that we, your parents, are... So... the good comes with the bad. Cheery people aren't that funny to be honest and they're kind of annoying to hang around after a while... then again... that may just be an American East coast trend. Who knows... you go out there and find out for yourself.
But just know - that I will never say that I hate you. Never. Because how could I - you're the best thing I've ever seen. However, if you hear it around the house - don't be afraid to tell us that that's not nice and we shouldn't "hate" things.
Love
Dad
